Cuti Cuti Melaka...

Well yet another simple yet fun outing to Melaka this time...

 We thought it will be a good idea to expose our kids to the historical city of Melaka - actually mainly to check out the Maritime Museum there.

 But the ultra hot weather didn't make it easy plus the teribble horrible traffic at the heart of Melaka certainly was NOT conducive at all.

 Did we meet the kids' objective? YES!

 Did the adults esp. grandparents enjoy themselves? NOPE!!

 In our standard as parents - spent quality time with our boys and my parents. Net net - well worth the hassle. Plus we managed to squeeze a quick dash to Seremban to enjoy the wonderfully yummy 'beef noodle' at Pasar Besar. Love it!!



 Cry baby Ian didn't get his way on some things and very naturally resorted to tears! Nope we are not falling for that trick boy..!








 I love it when our 'do-re-mi' wear the same shirts...cute!









 Of all 3 museum we visited that day, the boys loved the NAVY by far!

Our Lim family's Chinese names

It's not easy for an English educated Chinese banana like me to remember how to write our kids' Chinese names..(yeah of course I know how to write my own Chinese name). So I've actually prepared a powerpoint slide of all our Chinese names, as above, to help remind me how their names are to be written :p It's funny how we got Ivan's chinese name above... my parents didn't manage to provide chinese names that we like that rhymes with his English name - IVAN. Our 2nd honeymoon to Turkey 8-17 June 2010

In Ankara where it was almost towards the end of our honeymoon trip to Turkey , Sze Weng asked me “Dear, how would you rate this Turkey trip? Will you come back for more?” Without a doubt, I answered him “10/10 and YES will definitely come back, to cover Eastern Turkey !!” Turkey is such a beautiful country with majestic historical architecture dating back to Roman, Greek & Otoman empires, magnificent nature scenes and significantly rich culture, that even a rock at some hillside is at least 2 centuries’ old and superbly rich with stories. It was never our choice destination for our 2 nd honeymoon till I heard from my best friend, Joanne who came back from Turkey last year and sang praises about it. Respect for stay-at-home mothers..

A friend and his wife joined us at church today. They brought along their 5-month baby and felt immediately at ease with RLC's nursery area. She delivered her baby in March and has since left her job to be a full-time home-maker/mother/wife etc. Looking at her, I felt a strong sense of respect for her. I started asking myself "would I quit my job to take care of my 2 boys all by myself?" It's a question that I've asked myself during my 1st confinement after delivering Isaac. Then, my quick reply was NO. Financial limitation aside, I find it a really HUGE sacrifice for any working mums to take this bold step. I do not pride myself as being a workaholic... but to certain extend, I like my job & I like having my financial independence plus a strong social network which I've build across the last 10 years working in the media industry.  Confinement period/maternity leave is by far the closest I could get to being a stay-at-home mother.
