It's not easy for an English educated Chinese banana like me to remember how to write our kids' Chinese names..(yeah of course I know how to write my own Chinese name). So I've actually prepared a powerpoint slide of all our Chinese names, as above, to help remind me how their names are to be written :p It's funny how we got Ivan's chinese name above... my parents didn't manage to provide chinese names that we like that rhymes with his English name - IVAN. Most of those that my dad shortlisted sounded abit like a girl's name. So one day what I did was to google for a translation website and used this website to translate "Wen" in english to Chinese character. After some browsing through, I've finally selected the above Chinese character to represent "Wen" which also has a very good meaning. It represents "stability, strength, strong foundation" which I find will be very good traits for a little boy. There is a Chinese sayin...
In Ankara where it was almost towards the end of our honeymoon trip to Turkey , Sze Weng asked me “Dear, how would you rate this Turkey trip? Will you come back for more?” Without a doubt, I answered him “10/10 and YES will definitely come back, to cover Eastern Turkey !!” Turkey is such a beautiful country with majestic historical architecture dating back to Roman, Greek & Otoman empires, magnificent nature scenes and significantly rich culture, that even a rock at some hillside is at least 2 centuries’ old and superbly rich with stories. It was never our choice destination for our 2 nd honeymoon till I heard from my best friend, Joanne who came back from Turkey last year and sang praises about it. After some research through forums, we were captivated with the beauty & magnificence of the country that we decided we could NOT resist it. We traveled for 10 days throughout the Western side of Turkey ; from Istanbul to Pamukkale, then on to Cappadocia and Ankara and bac...
We took some time off to transform Isaac's current room into a DIY music studio room over the last 2 weeks. These were the processes which we went through and most of the planning were done by Isaac; to bring to fruition his dream music studio room! 1) Removed the old long table in his current room. This table is now in my dad's room. 2) Removed his single bed - frame has been given away to recycle item collector. We kept the mattress. 3) Painted the whole room - a feature wall using Nippon's Oxford River turned out to be really beautiful light modern grey colour. The other walls were painted a new coat of white. The room is now bright & refreshed! haha.. 4) Got the electrician to remove the ceiling fan and to install a wall fan. 5) Purchased an IKEA bunk bed which came with a proper desk & storage cabinets at the bottom half. The installer came on Saturday to fix the bed & now Ivan sleeps in this bunk bed. 6) DIY music studio equipments being assembled by Isaac...
