Honeymoon to London & Iceland

My desire to catch the Northern Light @ Iceland has encouraged me to start planning for our honeymoon to London + Iceland in 2018.

London 🇬🇧 we are baaaccckkk! So happy to be back in the beautiful London and this time we are spending more time in Central London... just chilling around... shopping... eating... hahaha and just enjoying each other’s company 😍

1st day in London was spent celebrating hubby’s birthday 🎂 🎊🎉🎁 Did our usual shopping at Camden Market area and had dinner at Poppies Fish & Chips (so so only.. haha) See the huge portion of fish & chips!! Wow! 😆

Day 2 in London 🇬🇧 👏🏼
We have been blessed with such beautiful sunny yet cool weather which is pretty uncommon for autumn 🍂 season here. More shopping today hehehe followed by dinner @ Burgers & Lobsters, walking about Chinatown and ending the day with a theatre show “Kinky Boots”... superb energy, fantastic vocal powers and very interesting storyline 👍🏼👍🏼 ❤️ London 🇬🇧

Day 3 in London 🇬🇧 was spent exploring Windsor Castle 🏰 but due to the royal wedding on Friday, many parts were closed 😢 We got there just in time for the marching band practice & soon after we also witnessed the changing of guards indicating Queen E 👑 was there!

After 2 hours of walking about & listening to history of the castle, we had lunch & adjourned to The Long Walk... well.. we walked for like 500m and was sleepy... so we laid out the picnic mat & took a nap 😴 hahaha..!

Our “kind” of holiday... just lying around in the park, resting, sleeping hahaha and just enjoy each other’s company 😘😍👏🏼🇬🇧 thank God for the lovely sunny 🍂 weather

Day 4 in London 🇬🇧 - we spent the whole day learning about history of time and longitude! Such an eye-opening experience 👍🏼 took some pics at the Meridian Line #primemeridian ... also checked out the beautiful Greenwich Park in lovely autumn 🍂 season... so many colors... ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

We then proceeded to National Maritime Museum & Cutty Sark before lunch at the famous Greenwich Market.

We even managed to squeeze in some time for Peter Harrison Planetarium but the show was only so-so... nearly dozed off 💤 After that, we headed off to Stratford for dinner with @peggy.loo in her cozy abode... we were soooo busy chatting we forgot to take some pics hahaha!! 😆😆😆 another wonderful day spent in London 🇬🇧

Day 5 in London 🇬🇧 was spent exploring Notting (or rather Nothing) Hill hahaha... oh well just some old buildings and rows after rows of premium housing with premium cars parked in front! LOL 😂

We were blessed with beautiful sunny weather for most part of the day until evening it got a bit cloudy & gloomy (very typical London weather) haha 😆

No visit to London 🇬🇧 is complete without having roast duck @ Four Seasons in Bayswater... yumss 😋

Two years ago during our 1st visit to London, we missed out the Natural History Museum so this time we allocated half a day for it... sooooo many things to see in there 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 dinosaurssss 🦕 🦖
After that we went window-shopping at Harrods 😆... didn’t enjoy it at all. A nice slow day to enjoy ourselves in London before flying off to next destination... 🇮🇸 Iceland!

🇮🇸 Iceland here we are!! 😘Current temperature is 7 degree and most likely will go down further tonight! Cooooooooldddddddd... and a tiny bit wet... my snow boots 👢 should come in handy 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Sze Weng is already craving for bak kut teh 🍲 yumssss 😋

Day 2 in beautiful Iceland 🇮🇸 wow! It was really cold today, felt like 5 degree or less esp. when the wind blew. Praise God for good weather although there were some light drizzle in the morning which got me abit worried 😬

We met a good samaritan who gave us a lift somewhere near our airbnb to the Mjodd bus station... what a pleasant way to start the day! 😘

Breakfast was delightful, we ordered and paid for lamb soup @ Icelandic Street Food and got coffee and salmon sandwich ‘on-the-house’...yay! 👏🏼👏🏼

We started the day with the Free City Walking Tour, highly recommended and our guide Disa was fabulous, funny & super friendly 👍🏼😊 The 2-hour walking tour started from the Parliament building and ended at The Pond, right next to City Hall.

After a very yummy lunch at Loki Cafe which was highly recommended by Disa and the food was really good.. we visited the Hallgrimskirkja Church ⛪️, took a slow stroll along the street to the Sun Voyager sculpture which is facing this beautiful mountain 🏔 and finally ended at the Harpa Concert Hall. We initially went into Harpa to use the free toilets (hahaha!) but ended up watching a 360 cinematic experience show about the beauty of Iceland but it was disappointing to say the least 😢

Dinner was very simple... just hotdogs @ Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur.. it was super tasty & fairly cheap 😋 👍🏼👍🏼

Day 3 in mesmerizing Iceland 🇮🇸 the day started off beautifully today with sun ☀️ and no rain. Today we will be doing the Golden Circle Tour, visiting several natural wonders.

After pick up at Mjodd, we were brought to Secret Lagoon for a warm dip in the geo thermal pool. What a great way to start the day; outside super cold at about 3 degrees, inside the pool temperature was about 40-50 degrees... beautiful contrast 👍🏼 We chose this Secret Lagoon (vs Blue Lagoon) as it’s much less commercialized and it is nestled within the serenity of the natures. There is a tiny geysir behind the pool and it erupts right next to us! 😘 The surrounding view is simply spectacular, you get to see steam coming off the ground... amazing!... nothing we have ever seen before 🙏🏼 The shower facilities here are well maintained & overall experience was very pleasant 👏🏼👍🏼🏔

After a “mushroomy” 🍄 lunch, we proceeded to visit the amazing Gullfoss Waterfall - it was so huge & the water force was so enermous! 😲 Then it started to rain slightly..and it stopped, that’s the really weird part of Iceland weather.

Then we were off to Geysir hot spring area (Haukadalur) to witness Strokkur geysir in action. There were also other geysir spots that do not erupt anymore... you can literally feel the warmth and the steam fills the air. Check out the Strokkur geysir in action... aweeeeesommmeeee 😍😍😍 Iceland 🇮🇸 is very blessed with so many magnificent natural marvels 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 God you are such a marvelous god... thank you for blessing us with this trip to see your marvelous creations!

Lastly we visited the Thingvellir National Park 🏞, it is the site of the World’s first Parliament, which met each year outdoors, beginning in 930 AD and continuing until 1798. So many beautiful marvelous natural beauty in Iceland 🇮🇸 truly blessed land 👍🏼🙏🏼🌈

Day 4 in cold & windy Iceland 🇮🇸 today we did the South Coast Tour... which started off with the majestic view of the Solheimajokull Glacier lagoon... A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! Never really know how a glacier looks like till now... truly eye-opening experience for me. See the rainbow 🌈 over the ice-caps ...

Iceland is a land filled with many rainbows 🌈 🌈🌈 in a day, you probably see 2 or 3 rainbows 🌈 This tour we passed by multiple volcanoes and lava fields, one of the most famous is Eyjafjalljokull volcano that erupted in 2010 and caused catastrophic damages to Europe.

We proceeded to Reynisfjara aka Black Sand Beach in Vik after the glacier lagoon. The huge waves 🌊 were actually very scary... the beach is in complete black sand which was quite amazing! 👏🏼👏🏼 There are rock formations everywhere near the beach & the huge mountains around it look as though they are charcoal shaped!!

We were just standing around in the inner side of the beach when suddenly the huge wave rushed towards us and the water gushed towards our feet... very scary! We were told never to go near the water or stand with our backs facing the sea coz the waves may just consume you in an instant! WOW!! Another incredible natural marvel 🤩

After a really yummy lamb-y lunch @ Vik town, we proceeded to Skogafoss Waterfall. It’s an incredible view from the top of the waterfall and you can see the panoramic view of its surrounding area 😲👍🏼👏🏼 The 400-steps walk up to the top was quite challenging for the ‘not-so-super-fit’ me... made it to the top panting badly hahaha 😂🤣 VS a 70-year-old uncle who made it to the top without any panting / needing to catch his breath *super paiseh* 🤣🤣😅😅😂😂

You never get enough of rainbows 🌈 and waterfall in Iceland... and so we were off to another waterfall... but only it’s NOT just another waterfall.

Welcome to Seljalandsfoss Waterfall...! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Here we took an incredible walk BEHIND (!!!) the thundering veil of the majestic waterfall... what an experience 👏🏼👏🏼😲😲 half way through, the sun ☀️ started coming out and gave a vibrant ray of light to the waterfall... what a beautiful view WOW!! 😘🤩😲 and just before we left this place to head back to Reykjavik city 🌃 another beautiful rainbow 🌈 presented itself to us 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 super love ❤️ Iceland 🇮🇸

*be sure to wear water proof jackets and a good pair of hiking boots as it’s very wet and slippery*

Hahahaha so yessss... the main and sole reason we decided to visit Iceland 🇮🇸 was to catch the Aurora Borealis (aka Northern Lights)... but somehow it turned out to be a non-reason as we fell deeply in love 😍 ❤️ 💕 with the many natural beauty & marvelous God‘s creations in Iceland 🇮🇸

The Aurora was elusive and ‘super-shy’ whilst we were there.. often hidden behind clouds 😓 Despite multiple attempts to hunt for it... we only managed to catch a vague display of Aurora on Monday night at Laugar 😔 disappointment is not even close to how I would describe my feeling back then and it was so vague that we could not even capture a good clear picture of it *super sad* 😢 This was a picture shared by other tour mates ...

Oh well another trip to Iceland 🇮🇸 to hunt for the Aurora! Soon I hope 🙏🏼 still feel #blessed nevertheless as Iceland 🇮🇸 is really a very beautiful country 🌈 🌈🌞☀️☁️🏔🗻🌋

Indeed this was a wonderful trip, with too many blessings too numerous to count... also a few mishaps *yikes* - Sze Weng lost his HP on the first day in London. He thinks he either lost it at Camden Market whilst trying out his new Nike shoe (which was my birthday gift for him) OR lost it in the airbnb and someone kept it.

Another mishap was that we missed our 'way-too-early' flight from London to Iceland mainly because I miscalculated the traveling time from airbnb at King's Cross to Heathrow *my bad* With that, we had to spend more money staying one additional night nearby Heathrow Airport and pay for the flight changes.

But all these are part of the experience from this marvellous trip! Praise the Lord again for blessing us with this wonderful trip to London & Iceland. We will be backkkkkkkkkk!!
