MCO - RMCO - CMCO - the year that was 2020 :(

Malaysia was on full LOCKDOWN since 18th March 2020 - the govt coined it as Movement Control Order (MCO).

This was such a shocking news to all of us; we did not know what to do. But having read the news of coronavirus pandemic which first started in Wuhan, China during CNY season, where the province was on full lockdown; we kinda learnt very quickly that it also meant FULL ON HOUSE ARREST!!

Everything from schools, shops, offices and all public places were closed. Only essential industry which supplies food & drinks are allowed to operate, as well as the broadcasting/media industry that provides News & Updates to Malaysians. And everyone MUST MUST MUST stay home to stop the covid-19 virus from spreading further in Malaysia.

I won't bore you with news after news on the covid-19 development etc in Malaysia - those are easily available on all News portal. But here are snapshots of what our LIM family did during the 9-10 months long of MCO then RMCO then CMCO and eventually back to MCO2.0 *huhu*




Ivan wore his Bulan Sabit full uniform for ko-ko activity in SKSS just 2 days before MCO started.

My job expended from the usual full-time job to being tutor to the 3 boys and every other month, I also became the hairdresser... hahaha!

The boys learnt to do house chores during MCO as they were too bored & they managed to earn some pocket money... yay!!

From playing Legos....

... to playing music instruments to kill time whilst stuck at home...




... to doing online homework & attending online Google Meet classes...




... to learning how to cook... 


... to swimming in the home inflatable pool...



... and many other new hobbies... 

What an unprecedented year that was 2020! We are still praying for better days ahead and that the world will be covid-19 free very very soon.

Our Lim family's Chinese names

It's not easy for an English educated Chinese banana like me to remember how to write our kids' Chinese names..(yeah of course I know how to write my own Chinese name). So I've actually prepared a powerpoint slide of all our Chinese names, as above, to help remind me how their names are to be written :p It's funny how we got Ivan's chinese name above... my parents didn't manage to provide chinese names that we like that rhymes with his English name - IVAN. Most of those that my dad shortlisted sounded abit like a girl's name. Our 2nd honeymoon to Turkey 8-17 June 2010

In Ankara where it was almost towards the end of our honeymoon trip to Turkey , Sze Weng asked me “Dear, how would you rate this Turkey trip? Will you come back for more?” Without a doubt, I answered him “10/10 and YES will definitely come back, to cover Eastern Turkey !!” Turkey is such a beautiful country with majestic historical architecture dating back to Roman, Greek & Otoman empires, magnificent nature scenes and significantly rich culture, that even a rock at some hillside is at least 2 centuries’ old and superbly rich with stories. Respect for stay-at-home mothers..

A friend and his wife joined us at church today. They brought along their 5-month baby and felt immediately at ease with RLC's nursery area. She delivered her baby in March and has since left her job to be a full-time home-maker/mother/wife etc. Looking at her, I felt a strong sense of respect for her. I started asking myself "would I quit my job to take care of my 2 boys all by myself?" It's a question that I've asked myself during my 1st confinement after delivering Isaac. Then, my quick reply was NO. Financial limitation aside, I find it a really HUGE sacrifice for any working mums to take this bold step.
